Aside from the entertainment factor and the chance to win some cash prizes. A study has found that playing bingo is actually good for you too.
The study was undertaken by the Psychology department at the University of Southampton and concluded that those who regularly played bingo has a much sharper mind than those who didn’t, even more so in older people. The report outlined better and more accurate results for bingo players in tests such as mental speed, memory and the ability to take in information quickly around them.
112 people were tested within the age brackets of 18 to 40 and 60 to 82. Fifty percent of each group regularly played bingo, whereas the other half did not. The conclusion of the results was that those who played bingo were much quicker and more accurate than non-players. This research supports the theory that regular activities that exercise the mind are extremely beneficial throughout our lives.
The differences between the two age groups were a better speed from the younger players but the older players were much more accurate. The stigma once associated with bingo as a game solely for older people has now been removed and you can enjoy bingo with likeminded players both in a bingo hall and from the comfort of your own home with online bingo.
